Onion & Tomato Salad with curd/ Raita

Raita is a salad which cools the palate when you eat spicy Indian food. It can be made using raw vegetables, fruits, pulses or in combination of these. It is also known as "Pachadi" in South India. Usually taken with Biriyani or any other flavoured rice. It is served chill.

Ingredients 
Onion Tomato Salad
  • Onion - 1 medium
  • Tomato - 1
  • Green chillies - 2 to 3
  • Cucumber & grated carrot - 1 small cup (optional)
  • Coriander leaves - 4 teaspoons
  • Curd /Yogurt - 1/4 litre
  • Salt - as required
Preparation
  1. Chop the onion and tomato into small pieces, mince the green chillies, grate the carrot, cut cucumber into small cubes and transfer it to a salad bowl. 
  2. Add salt and mix it well. Now pour curds/ yogurt and water for desired consistency. Finely chop the coriander leaves and garnish the salad. Serve chill.
