Mushroom Appetizer

This recipe is a simple appetizer, nothing fancy. I picked it up at Home Style Veg Food blog. Tried it out and I liked it. A simple home made Mushroom appetizer. I had it with Dal rice. Works well as a Sunday evening snack along with Chai.
Ingredients
  • Mushroom - 100 gms
  • Gram flour / Chickpea flour - 1 cup
  • Rice flour - 1/4th cup
  • Corn flour - 2 tsp
  • Chilli powder - 2 heaped tsps
  • Chicken Masala or Tandoori masala or Pav bhaji masala - 2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4th tsp
  • Salt - as required
  • Cooking oil - to deep fry
Preparation
  • Wash the mushroom well and clean it well. Take off the top layer of the mushroom. Squeeze out the water, wipe it off clean. Cut it into 4 pieces and set it aside.
  • Take a bowl and mix all the other ingredients (except oil) make a thick batter. Like dosa batter.
  • Now take a deep frying pan, pour enough oil to deep fry the mushrooms. When the oil is hot and ready, take the mushroom dip it in the batter and fry it away for 2 minutes. Turn it over and fry it for another minute.
  • Take the mushroom out and spread it out on a paper which will take away the oil. Serve hot with any chutney as a dip.

Note : You will also find ready made Bhajji flour in market. It contains all ingredients above, so you can just make a batter, dip the mushroom, fry it and serve.
